Cwmllynfell fought back from an 06-18 defict half way through the opening period to keep thier 100% record and move above Tondu to second in the table
Tondu took the game to cwm from the onset and playing into a strong wind coming off the black mountains the vistiors were much more aggressive and determined and took full advanage of cwms unforced errors and poor aimless kicking by the backs to score to early penalties . Peter Thomas then kicked a penalty for the blues from a rare break into the tondu half before tondu with their backs and forwards running directly at cwm broke through cwms poor first time tackles to score two well worked tries by Paul Smithson and Nick Hobson . Dean Thomas converted one and added a penalty to put tondu 18-3 up after 15 minutes. Tondu kept pressing and only some last ditch defence kept the visitors out . . Cwm finally cleared thier lines and were awarded a penalty on the half way line and Thomas stepped up to kick a monster penalty to give the cwm score some respctability . Thomas was then fouled and injured in a rare cwm attack and had to be substituted . Nic Diananovic kicked the resulting penalty to give the score some respctability
half time 9 -18
Playing with the wind in the second half tondu kept cwm pinned back in thier 25 and despite a succession of 22 restarts cwm could not move up field . On 60 minutes a turnover gave tondu the ball under the posts and the outhalf Thomasf took a drop goal to put the visitors further ahead
Form the restart somehow cwm raised thier game with the back row of Jim Morgan the excellent Daniel Jones and Luke Davies taking the game to game to tondu . Tondu staryed offside and Diananovic kicked a penalty from 30 yards to put tthe blues back in the game As the game opened up tondu started to visibly tire and the fitter cwm pack started to dominate in the loose - with at last Craig Kelly bulldozing his way over from 22 yards , Diananovic added the extras
Tondu restarted with a long kick downfield and from the resulting 22 drop out man of the match Daniel Jones somehow caught the restart and the ball was moved to Danianovic who went off on a mecurial 60mtr break to score near the the posts and add the extras
Cwm played down the clock but conceded a last play penalty on the half way wide out - Tondu kicked wide and cwm were home and dry
Final score Cwm 26 -Tondu 24
