Bowdy boots Cwm to victory over Bullls
Cwmllynfell consolidated their third place with a hard fought victory over a hard working Builth side on a cold January afternoon.,as exciting wing prospect Bowdy Davies only playing as the lanelli game was frozen off turned kicker to steer cwm home
From the start it was soon evident that it was not going to be a fluid match as Buith constantly slowed the home ball at the contact area which stopped release of the speedy Cwm threequarter line.
Their aggressive approach stifled the home attack and it was the away side who took the lead via a penalty through long serving wing John Thurston on the half hour and this was the only first half score.
With the second half continuing in the same vein Cwmllynfell spurned several chances and kickable penalties before finally Bowdy Davies slotted one over on the hour to tie the scores. The Bulls then obtained field position and rumbled over from a driving maul for an unconverted try credited to their captain Ben Duggan. With only 10 minutes remaining and Cwmllynfell rejuvenated by their substitutions they finally crossed the Builth line through flanker Mike Richards which was converted beautifully from wide out by Bowdy Davies.
Despite huffing and puffing the Bulls failed to pierce the strong home defence in the closing minutes and Cwm closed out the match to secure the 4 points
Final Score Cwmllynfell 12 Builth 10
