CROSS KEYS V V CWM— 16 JANUARY 2009 WELSH CUP ROUND 2
Cwm put up a brave performace at the premier club ground way up in the cold and wet eastern valleys before falling out of the cup in the second round against premier oposition
late injuries meant cwm had an unfamilar back divison with C Oconner normally a wing forward on the wing and A carter at centre and as aresult could not turn what ball they had into much of threat early on
After a close first quater Keys edged ahead from the boot of Dai Langdon , but Peter Thmas brought cwm level with a long range penalty
Cwm then paid the price for first time missed tackles as keys raced away with 2 tries and a very harsh penalty try for what appered to be a first offence ,awarded by a ref who appeared to be favoring the home side at most breakdowns much to the intense fury of the faithfull cwm travelling support
the second half was much closer with Keys going further ahaed but the game ending with Cwm on top and a well deserved try for J Borat Thomas after asustained period of pressure by the cwm pack , converted by Thomas
as the game went on cwm organization and game improved with good performances from P Rummings and D webb in the pack with scrum half R Willimas also having his best game yet for the blues, and veteran Paul Davies also having a good game at full back in very difficult conditions
Final Score : XKEYS 39 Cwm 10
