Cwm visited promoted side Bridgend Athletic where the Blues have a good record over the years .
Cwm had the usual very warm welcome but how on earth the Athletic are allowed to play Divison One fixtures on a public park with changing room facilities that appear primitive even when compared with Cwm's old changing rooms at the Boblen public house defies belief!! Bridgend County Council havea public health disaster in waiting. The sooner the WRU apply ground and league selection criteria to all levels the better.
Cwm started the game very strongly and playing aginst a gale force wind the pack took control and a try from Aled Willimas after a long drive upfield gave Cwm an early lead which they held at half time. Despite wind advatange all the Athletic could do was a long range penalty by long serving centre Morris.
The second half was a different story as Cwm lost control and direction and after a series of unforced errors and misdirected field kicks the Athletic scored a try by Williams. Cwm then equalized with a penalty from in front of the post by outhalf R Thomas but that was all for the visitors as a penalty kick hitting the post by Peter Thomas and solo unsupported breaks by out half Thomas were the only times Cwm then came close with Cwm often chosing the wrong options rather than using the wind. The Athletic half backs and back row then took control and a try from the home no 8 gave the Athletic a win that seemed very unlikley at half time.

With Cwm only securing a bonus point for all the first half's fine effort
final score.
Final Score: Athletic 15 Cwm 8
